What started out as baking cakes and cookies in her Easy Bake Oven segued to baking cakes and pies after graduating from college. As an adult, she still has a passion for enjoying dessert, REALLY delicious dessert. And she still has a deep love of baking desserts and sharing them with others. With urging and encouragement from loved ones, she launched AppleCore’s in 2020 to share her love of baking with YOU.

Troy and Niqua Wheatley are the husband and wife team behind Cake'D By Niqua. Originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Niqua grew up in the kitchen watching her grandmother bake. Her first real experience with cake decorating came in October of 2013 when she created a monster cake and cupcakes for their son's 2nd birthday Halloween party. This experience sparked an interest and she fell in love with cake decorating. Niqua's work has been featured on Satin Ice Fondant's cake blog several times and has also been published in Cake Masters Magazine and Cake Central Magazine. Niqua can be seen as a competitor showcasing her talent on Food Network's Cupcake Championship.

Oksana Bocharova, a native of the Belgorod region of Russia, inherited her love farming and nature from her father, Yuriy. He managed a large collective farm and would often take her to the fields and teach her all that he knew about agriculture as he examined the crops. By the time she was seven, she knew she wanted to be a farmer. Oksana's Produce Farm is a small scale farm located in Chestertown, Maryland, where she grows a diverse mix of vegetables and herbs on 6.5 acres. She successfully applies biological soil management principles and practices which incorporate (and go beyond) organic production standards.

Affectionately known on the island as Pitorro, it’s been close to impossible to find it anywhere outside of Puerto Rico. Sandy Spring Gardens grows 50 types of vegetables in Ashton, Maryland, on five plots ranging in size from 2000 square feet to 2 acres. Tom grew up in Brookeville in an old farmhouse with chickens, pigs, and a big vegetable garden. As a member of the 4-H Sheep and Swine Club, he viewed the Montgomery County Fair as the highlight of summer. Working at Tusculum Farm during his high school and college years, he gained a deeper appreciation for farmers and farm life. After a 40-year career in education, he returned to Montgomery County to establish Sandy Spring Gardens in 2017.
